Lime Crime Lipstick in Retrofuturist

I am a person who loves red lipstick and how glamourous it can make you feel. However I find that red is not always my most flattering colour. I recently saw the Kardashians and got hooked on the show. I noticed that one of the sisters wears a very flattering red coloured matte lipstick with orangey tones to it that I believed would look fabulous on me. Now usually I am not a matte lipstick sort of person. I am a lipgloss fanatic and have more lipglosses in my collection then any other item.

I went on a search and ended up at crushcosmetics.com.au looking at the Lime Crime brand. I had not heard much about this product and to be honest I was sold on the packaging. I looked through the colours and came across Retrofuturist which in the swatch showed a redish orange colour which I thought I would try.

When it arrived however it came as a true bright red. I tried it anyway and it is an amazing colour when put on. It came out fabulous on my lips and suited my skin colour really well. The formula was smooth and didnt dry out my lips, Its highly pigmented and the packaging on it is so cute that I was very happy I spent the $19.95 for this lipstick

Now the downside, Even though I love that its highly pigmented it doesnt have great staying power and does smudge easily. The other issue I have with this lipstick is that it can stain your lips. I found mid way through the 9 hours I wore it, that it had wore off but left a light stain on the lips which actually still looked quite good but I did need makeup remover to get the stain off my lips at the end of the night.

I tried this with MAC'S Naked Eye Pigment, and winged liquid eyeliner for a more retro pin up look to tie in with the products namesake. Overall I really liked this product and this will be a keeper in my make up collection. Those with fair skin I would be weary as this is a really bright lipstick and may look quite shocking against a fairer skin tone. Those with medium to dark skin tones I believe this colour would look fabulous on.

Review on Escada's Taj Sunset Perfume

"A sweet and smooth scent with a tropical mango fruit note and velvety coconut cream twist, a contrast that perfectly embodies the adventure and exoticism of summer in Goa.

Taj Sunset conjures an idyllic moment of dancing barefoot on a picturesque beach…. think beautiful white sand, palm trees swaying and a perfumed breeze awakening the senses as the sun begins to set into a night of exotic summer hedonism"

Recently searching for a new perfume for the summer months, I came across multiple reviews and raves about Escada’s Range of perfumes.

I had never come across this brand before, so of course I was intrigued. They have a diverse collection of “gourmand” scents.  Taj Sunset is a part of their limited edition collection and I now understand why it I got so many rave reviews.

Now to start off, I couldn’t find it anywhere in my local area to sample it before I actually purchased it. I went out on a limb and decided to buy it online but would get a small bottle and pass it along to someone else if I didn’t like it. So I jumped onto faithful StrawberryNet and there it was! A 30ml bottle for $49.50. I did a double take at the price and thought to myself “No way am I spending that much on a perfume!” But went ahead and purchased it anyway.

It arrived and eagerly I unwrapped it.  It came in a beautifully designed box that was very 70’s beach inspired. The bottle was very sleek and beautiful and looks stunning sitting on the dresser. The bottle was etched with a floral almost Indian inspired design and shaded in different shades of oranges and yellows.

Upon smelling I was immediately sent to a tropical paradise. The smell is intoxicating and so addictive. It smells like exotic tropical fruit salad. It doesn’t have that chemical or unnatural scent that fruity smells sometimes tend to have.  Upon spraying it on myself I did detect a peppery overtone when first applied. This dissipated after 10-15 minutes and went back to the original tropical fruit smell.

Overall this perfume is one of my favourites (I bought 2 backups of it just in case) It is a beautiful summer scent and smells so yummy. However I do find that the product does not last all day. You will find that mid way through the day the smell has long gone. Also it is very potent to begin with when first applying, so if you are sensitive to smells I would give this one a miss. But overall a great perfume and I will be now looking at the rest of the Escada range for more perfume treasures.

Review on Chanel's Vitalumiere Liquid Foundation Part 1

After hearing the YouTube Guru’s The Pixiwoo Sisters rave about this and the other versions of the Chanel foundations, I thought to myself I had to try it out and see what all the fuss was about. So hopping online I was lucky enough to find it at StrawberryNet.

My order arrived to my office at my work and I immediately opened it and put it on using my (clean) fingers as I had no brushes with me at work. My first thoughts on the product were it looks quite sleek and stylish in its packaging. The product came with a pump which was very convenient and means you get the right amount each time. Applying the product is quite easy it has water like consistentance that just glides over the skin. It blends very well into the skin to give a dewy finish; it sort of looks like you just had a facial and drank 8 glasses of water in one hit. I found the product gave a light to medium coverage but can built upon if you want to obtain a full coverage.

While am I a makeup enthusiast I don’t like makeup that feels unnatural of heavy on the skin. This foundation fits the requirements for me as it was very light and didn’t feel heavy or cakey. I have notoriously dehydrated skin and finding foundation that doesn’t aggravate this is hard to find, this foundation was very hydrating on the skin and made me look radiant. Now the things I disliked about this product. Firstly the smell, it has a light smell. It’s not overpowering but it was something that made me kind of pull back upon taking a whiff, However once applied the smell did not linger. I also found this product rubbed off on my first time wearing it, however I did not wear a primer nor set the foundation with my Mac+ setting spray or a foundation.

I will continue to wear this foundation over the next couple of days to really test it out and see its staying power. But upon first impressions I am very happy with this product and would recommend this to people with dry to combination skin types only. If you are oily this product would not be suitable as it would only make your complexion look oilier.

Stay tuned for the follow up review.

An Introduction to my Blog

Hi I’m Storm.

I am an Aussie girl who is tomboyish but always was and still is, obsessed with makeup and beauty.

I am what I like to call, a makeup and beauty enthusiast. I spend a lot of my free time watching tutorials on YouTube, reading reviews, watching beauty makeover shows, shopping for products and testing products out.

I found that every time a new product and makeup style came out I would always be interested in its benefits, what it can do, how it works and how to tweak the look to suit me.

The beauty world is a maze sometimes, there are numerous products claiming to do multiple miraculous things for our complexion and to enhance our beauty. I have over the years tested and tried numerous products and beauty services and I wanted to be able to share my own personal experience with those who maybe looking for the right product for them or just wanting to try something different.

I must state that I am not a trained professional; I have had no formal training and all the products I have reviewed are purchased with my own money. I am just a girl who loves make up and beauty products. I am passionate about the beauty industry and will be developing that passion further next year when I start attending make up artistry and beauty courses to solidify my knowledge so I can provide better understanding of the products and pass along my knowledge to others to help them in their beauty and make up choices.

 Happy reading!
